Humpback whales travel 8000km each year from Antarctica to the warm tropical waters of Nuquí to mate and give birth to their young. They stay with us from the end of June until October.
The El Amargal Nature Reserve is a strategic location in the region for whale watching, as it is situated south of the Gulf of Tribugá. This is where whales can first be seen upon their arrival and is the last place they pass through before departing, until the following year. This makes it the best spot for whale watching over a longer period of several weeks.
Furthermore, without leaving your room, while having lunch, or relaxing in the hammocks, you can marvel at the spectacle of whales jumping, sticking out their tails or playing with their pectoral fins, thanks to the panoramic ocean view from the guesthouse, which is located on a hill 20 meters high and 12 meters from the sea.
To help you make the most of your stay, we offer tours and excursions, exclusively for our guests.
By staying in a nature reserve, you have the opportunity to experience a direct encounter with the rainforest and its biodiversity. We offer a variety of ecological hikes along the jungle trails, rivers, and waterfalls that crisscross the 40 hectares of the El Amargal Nature Reserve.
Welcome, we look forward to seeing you!
